Can someone describe or post a picture of how the wooden seatback is attached at the bottom? I believe the top is screwed into the tack strip.
Do I have the pieces situated correctly? ![]() I need a little help here too: ![]() Should have taken some pictures before I took it apart and tagged and bagged the nuts/bolts as well! Last edited by mrtexas; 10-17-2011 at 06:23 PM. |

Mine had a little hook on either end of the seat back that the seat springs slipped into. I don't tremember anything at the bottom.
by the way, what is that car in the pic on your profile? Never saw a Mldel A 3 window coupe before. |

The model a 3 window was a prototype that was never brought into production, too bad. I would love to have one. I have a roadster seat back, I can take a pic.

I think I once read that Mr. Ford nixed the 3-window coupe prototype because it looked too much like a Dodge.

I put the old parts back on but the bottom of the uprights has a horizontal screw hole with nowhere to screw it. ![]() |

I found a picture in the Sacramento catalog. Looks like there are some metal angles for the bottom:

It's worth noting that the spring was completely covered before installation and then a two layer flap on the top of the cushion assembly was padded and tacked to the tack rail to finish it off. This was nearly identical to the Phaeton version below. ![]() ![]()

There's pictures in this post on the HAMB that show the lower brackets that you appear to be missing - they hold the wood pieces together at the bottom as well as providing the lower rest for the seat back:

I have this if it is what you are looking for, it is from an original 29 roadster. It is yours if you want it.
