I have a signal-stat directional light and flasher switch in my coupe.
I am seeing a faint red light on the switch that is on all the time unless I disconnect power. I am guessing that is not normal..? Could there be a short somewhere? Thanks, Steve |

It is actually a problem with the flasher. All that I can seem to find are normally closed (which is why the light is on) and you need a normally open flasher. This is not a problem on a car where the electrical system is switched, but on a model A, everything is always hot. I solved the problem by removing the bulb in the signal stat since you can't see it anyway.

Not necessarily a 'short', but a slight drain for sure! It depends on HOW/WHERE you have it hooked up...for a power source. Only you know that. For instance, if you have it hooked to a 'switched' source(that is..toggle or ignition switch, it can be turned off. But, if you somehow connected it to the connector box in the ctr of the cowl...I believe that that is HOT all the time ![]() |

I have had this unit in the car for quite some time and I dont recall seeing the light on before...but it is hot with the key off. I seem to also recall it perhaps when there is a bad bulb in the system.
Perhaps need to relocate to a non power spot in the system. |
