Anyone used or have experience using the multiple disc clutch.I have several spares and an engine that was fitted with one though most tell me to change to the regular style of clutch. As well I have one MDC that appears heavier than the rest,I think it might be out of a larger truck, could this be interchanged and work in a smaller closed cab pickup?
Thanks in advance |

Multidisc work fine as long as the ribs inside the flywheel hub aren't notched too badly. By heavier, do you mean the flywheel looks heavier? The later multidisc flywheels had a recess cut into the outside for clearance of the new starter drive. It's pictured in the SERVICE BULLETINS.

Were these clutchs known to be noisy, one restorer says they can howl quite badly.Another says they need regular cleaning out to work properly.I've not heard from anyone thats actually used or using one. Thanks,Dan |

Your heavier/thicker clutch may be from a Lincoln. The multi-disc clutch set-up that was used in the A was a scaled down version of the one that was used in the larger-sized Lincoln.
