Our county had Virgina's Longest Yard Sale on Saturday. People kept wanting to walk around the back of the house to inspect the speedster.
So I Drove it around and put it in the Driveway. One man started talking about "His cars he wants to sell" He gave me a list of some of them. Early 28AR Tudor 55,000 miles and a 29 Tudor. I started talking parts (doors fenders) oh yea,ive got some of that stuff too! 1930 Roadster missing 1 door,Blocks and so on. Ill be going there sometime this week with my Camera and Truck. The Roadster im buying, the 28 and 29 a Neighbor may pick up. Theres also a 29 Hupmobile coupe. Wick |

Back in the late 60s and early 70s, a buddy of mine and I did a lot of car parts, buying and selling. My partner talked old car parts, every where he went ! We got some very good leads. People were anxious to tell him where this stuff could be found. He worked at it, and we were very lucky !

Everybody at work knows I have a couple of Model A's,and im allways looking for them. A few times a year someone will tell me about one somewhere. 2 months ago I was told about a 28 that there Buddies Grandaddy was driving around. He passed away and they put the car Outside so they could work on there Motorcycles.
I was given directions to where the car sits. I found it...its covered with a Blue tarp. The guy wants to sell it...im told hes a little Odd too deal with...Im waiting on his call. Wick |

Some times I think we get a little bit of help; I never used to believe in that sort of thing. My wife was in the first stage of "early onset" Alzheimer's disease, we were heading home with our 30 standard Roadster, spring in Minnesota, cold. She asked if we could PLEASE get something with some windows and a heater in it -- like that! She spotted a beautiful 36 coupe going the other way. I promised that I would try to find one, now. We got home and I happen to mention the fact that I had to come up with a 1935 or 1936 Ford Coupe while talking to an old friend and his brother. His brother said I have a 36 Coupe, and it's for sale! I have to finance the restoration of my 32. I looked at it and bought it on the spot. It was perfect! A complete restoration with flawless paint, it had many period speed parts; nothing sounds like a flathead with an Isky 3/4 cam. Betty loved that car, we went to many car shows, just local stuff it drew much attention. I had to sell the car when she went into a nursing home, Betty passed away on April 5, 2011. The over educated would call it "Serendipity; A series of pleasent coincidences" but I think we had help finging that car.

It's hard to see but is the parts or frame buried in the dirt?

Yep nothing like props, I was in W. Virginia and bought a 6' Olds dealership sign, loaded it in my truck and headed to the next town, stopped at a resturant and when I came out there was an old guy there looking at the sign and said "you like these old signs?" well he had a NOS Studebaker dealership sign still in the shipping box, said he was a Kaiser Fraiser dealer and when they went out of bizz he went to Studebaker then they went out of bizz before he got the sign up... 100 bucks
