Hello Gary, this is the first time I have seen this Ford letter. I have been marking the secondary well from the compensator hole with a sharp nail and then cutting a slot with a Dremel tool down to the small hole in the secondary well. Of course we have been doing this to fill the secondary well quicker to prevent stalling when stopping the car. For me, the results of this modification was mixed in preventing the stalling. This problem is also a function of the location of the hinge on the float. When the gas shifts forward in the bowl during a stop, the float goes up, shutting of the gas to the carburetor, further aggravating the situation. I feel Ford had a design defect with the Zenith Carb and chose to ignore it rather than fix it! If you find a fix, please let us all know what you did.
Thank you, Ed

You may find placing a second gasket under head of comp jet will prevent jet from touching the well jet which may have recesses improper for this carb. This will allow the fuel to flow into the secondary well without an air gap being created which in turn causes failure in the idle circut when braking.
