Default Gav jet

Over the last month or so, I noticed that for the first start of the day I would have to turn the gav in several turns. I'm thinking I must have turned it alot more than I thought. Car runs great, temps great. Then a week or so the same thing, turn the gav in, many turns. Well yesterday I am driving along, and the temps starts to heat up, a turn on the gav and the temp goes back down. then The temp starts going back up, more turns and doesn't help this time, it starts to backfire real bad, I pull the car over. I try to turn the gav in, it turns about 1/8 turn and locks up, I turn it out and turns just fine. I'm thinking rust may be in the jet and the gav needle is jamming up. I pull the cab and remove the gav needle and flush, put the gav needle back in and it still jams up. So I remove the gav needle again and go to remove the gav jet, it falls out. I try to screw the jet back in and it wont go. There is a small damage on the threads. I start the jet slowly and turn it in and out to clean the threads. Flushed the carb again and a little flake came out. I put the carb back on and the car runs best ever. Up to this point, the temps were good, idled fine and would buck a little sometimes ever so slight. So when your starting your car for the first time and the gav is turned way out, it's not your brain, there is something wrong. Just postiung to maybe help someone.

I had a leaky needle valve and replaced it... you not want to over turn with a lot of force in a CW direction the GAV, once the needle valve bottoms out that's all it can do fully closed... My car cold starts with 1 rotation CCW from the fully closed position... The needle valve and seat was easy to replace and peritex 2 help seal things up.
