I am in need of the welch plugs that fit tillotson carburetors, I know they are 3/8 inch, is the plug that fits the rear main cap the same size?.

The best that I remember, the welch plug that fits the rear main bearing cap is 7/16 . NAPA can get the welch plugs, it took about a week to get them for me , the last time . Take the carburetor with you. If the parts store has an older parts man you will be lucky. The younger counter guys don't know what a welch plug is .

Some of the model A vendors carry them too - I got some for mine but haven't replaced them yet.

Thanks you all,
The reason I asked was Snyders now carry the plug for the rear main cap, I was hoping it would be the same size as I have to order some parts from them, ---- Purdy there is nothing wrong with your memory 7/16 it is, the Ford #74108-S in the price list. Sacramento Vintage have them but I do not buy from them I will go to Oreillyauto with the print out, saves time describing want you want. Thanks again Brian.

Thanks Brian T and Res 731 . Welch plugs aren't always easy to obtain quickly. This will help others as well. I haven't yet bought from Sacramento Vintage but I know that Snyders is a lot quicker than NAPA for model A stuff and much less expensive as well .

I am picking the welch plugs up this afternoon, my local store found me 4, always take a printout of what you need if possible, I do not understand why the venders that sell Tillotson parts do not supply them, they need to be in the kits, behind that plug could be a dirt trap there are 2 tiny passages that may cause problems.

I don't see a 7/16 welch plug for the rear main bearing cap in my Snyders catalog. Maybe this part is only offered on line ?

Thanks Brian for the link !!! I copied the part number in my notes . The part will probably be listed when the new 2015 catalog comes out. Thanks again for your help and time .
