I just spent most of a beautiful Michigan spring day docenting at the Gilmore Car Museum's Model A Ford building in Hickory Corners, MI.
One highlight was when a gentleman thought he recognized his old car, which had been restored and donated by a southern California Model A club. We opened up the hood so he could get the engine number to check against his records when he gets home. Fun! Another new fun thing is that one of the cars has been designated as ok for people to sit in. My fellow docent and I managed this process on an individualized basis, depending on the crowd conditions at the moment. We don't want the crowd to suddenly start thinking it's ok to pile into the cars! I limited it to children, with the condition that I needed to see a big smile--no problemo!--great fun. If you haven't visited this place yet, I think you've got a real treat in store. If you live in the area, they could use more volunteer docent help. Steve |

nice report steve! i recommend all model a'ers to visit that museum, use it as a stop-over point while on vacation, or any time.
