Been to a lot of shows in South Jersey. Don't see too much original stuff anymore. Where are all the Model A's? I've met some older gents that seem to be afraid of driving them anywhere. Anyone here from South Jersey?

Great Question! And this isn't a new thing either. I was in HS in the 60s and there was nary a one in sight. Almost never saw one on the roads back then either. 15 maybe 20 years old was about it. Where are the A s in Jersey? I've moved to Pa and there are a few around here. But NJ it's like they never existed.

My Tudor resides in Middlesex County. I know of 2 or 3 in the area. One is on this board (TheTony), but I understand that he's looking to sell his because of healthcare costs. I also know of 2 others in the Old Bridge Sayreville area, but I believe they are being rodded.
I agree with you, I see very few, even fewer stock models. |

I am in Palmyra and there are three here (including mine) that I know of. I think there are a few more near by but I don't know the owners or their locations.

I know of 4 within 1 mile of my house, 2 within 1/2 mile of work --only one of them gets out on the road, some havn't been out of the garage in over 20 years ---probably 10 more within 10 miles
In the 70s, 80s I went to a lot of shows ---the promoters knew how to get the cars out --dinner, gift bags etc ---now it seems that they want 20$ for the privelage of using your car for promotion. |

The Cape May and Atlantic county areas do not have any good active clubs that bring out the A population. The only show that seems to bring out a decent selection of cars is the Gentilini show in Woodbine. It is free with free T shirts and free food sponsored by the car dealer.
Most shows are pay money and sit from 10 till 1 with generic mix of newer cars. The local club does not seem to try to draw new people into the mix. No good news letter and only run a few shows that they charge money to attend. Toward Depford there is the Garden State Model A Club which is and AACA based club. They are more active. |

There is most of a phaeton about 75 feet from my A, it has been sitting behind og a garage for a lot longer than the 15 years I have lived here ( I have told them they can throw it over the fence anytime they want), one of the cars that have been inside for 20+ years was the college car of the owner, it isn't visible in the garage with the door open(there is also a 46 knuckle harley in the garage), another car I saw outside being worked on, I previously had seen it in the garage for 10 years, it is getting closer to being on the road, but from what I have seen of the restoration it won't be a long trip car
Here there is a parade on Memorial day, and the 4th, usually there are 2-5 model As, sometimes a T ---and other assorted cars |

I am in the Garden State Model A region that Kevin referrenced. We have been trying to get people together but it's getting harder and harder. I'm tired of going to shows and having all the prize winners driven off dealer lots or beung the most outrageous. There's a show in Haddonfield sept 22 sponsored by the Ankokas region. It's free to cars up to 39. They should have about 15 Model As.

I lived in Jackson (The hole in the doughnut) and there are some in the area. I knew of a pickup that used to come to the flea market in Rova Farms. And a few others (But not on the road) Some came out to the Chick filets on Rt 9 in Howell and there is a guy from Cream Ridge. Other than that, It's dead around there.

There was Johny Irons Junkyard at five corners in Jackson. There are virtually NO junkyards left in North Jersey, modern or otherwise, My friends have to come over here (Pa) to find one.

I just moved back to Jersey after living in Ga for 3 years. Going back to pick my car up in about two-three weeks. It will be a treat to be driving my Tudor as a flatlander. I'm in LEH. Hope to be out at what ever stuff is happening this fall and next year.

Kurt and I live just outside of Atlantic City in Northfield.
I would love to get some kind of A / Early Ford group together in my more local area, but I am not the best at organizing and I have a young family taking up time. Plus, I am a ways off from getting my car on the road. My idea is a group that was oriented to driving, getting car mechanically well restored, and free events (well some may require admission). Not so sure how that would work. My thought is a few free shows always brings out cars. There is a guy local with a 32 roadster. He will not show his car at a place he has to pay. The car is absolutely gorgeous, well restored top to bottom and he likes to drive it. I also read about all these clubs where they have constant activities running. Usually they are near large cities. The people seem very inviting and open. Not what you tend to find in this area. Anyway, Kurt and I are here and if others want to talk PM me. |

We have a lot of "cruise in's" in our area. They are usually hosted by resterants that want more business. They offer "specials" or discounts on your meal if you bring an old car. Sometimes there will be promotional giveaways. No trophys, no charge, just good fun.

I live in Princeton, but that is more southern-central Jersey than southern Jersey...

I am a member of the Delaware Valley Model A Club. We meet in Bensalem, PA. There are four member who have Model A's who live in NJ. Three from Palmyra and one from Marlton. I chose this club rather than the Garden State club since the traffice between here and Deptford is either heavy or involves an interstate where I will not take my car. Perhaps I will vist the Garden State meeting some time.
I would attend the Haddonfield event but that is the same day as our 2013 Model A Club banquet. (darn). Quote:
