Transmission question
Are the 1939 3 speed car transmission and the 1940 3 speed 1/2 ton pickup transmission basically the same? Thanks
I just did a new search on VanPelt's site and it appears that the only difference is the clutch release shaft, which is interchangeable. Last edited by 34fordy; 10-10-2017 at 07:31 PM. Reason: Found more info |

Re: Transmission question
most of the pick up trans came with 29 tooth cluster gears (lower first/second gear) than cars which had 28 tooth cluster gears

The 29 tooth cluster also works well in other vehicles if/when 3.54 or 3.25 rear gears are used.
