That was a good read. But wow those prices, a guy could end up putting a couple hundred in a engine and that would be 3 times what I paid for the car!

Yes, very informative, but screwed up on a couple of things. They got the head casting number suffixes wrong, and the 312 did not end after 1957. Mercury used it through 1960, however the last 4 barrel version was in 1958.
