Wigle the key , lift it a bit . My 34 is the same , worn original key and lock . I have to lift the key a bit while turning . Dont force it .

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
If you jack up the front axle and have both front wheels off the ground, that may relief some pressure on the steering column shaft and enable you to turn the key along with wiggling it in different position as noted above.

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
Got it unlocked. Took the lever off and put a longer 10/32 screw in so I could get a grip on the screw with a vice grips. Then as I pulled on the grips I wiggled the key to the LEFT and it unlocked. I previously was trying to turn the key to the right.....Duh!

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
Why would you lock it? Click the lever to off and turn off the battery safety switch or unhook the battery terminal. I never lock any of them for that reason and always unhook a terminal. After all- locks are for honest people only.

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
GSCOV, I locked it to get the key out for comparison with another key. Normally I never would lock it. What would be defective, the piece that slides in and out? What’s the proper name for that piece? Thanks

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
Taking it all apart and cleaning would be a big help, but mainly the lock cylinder and key usually gets worn and wont accept the key without some wigglin

Re: Stuck column drop 34 sedan
The lock has a code on the side. A new key can be made from the code and sent to you without sending the lock away.
