Help with '39 steering box.
I was in the process of cleaning the steering box in my 39 when I developed a problem. I removed the steering shaft worm gear cover to install a new gasket and the brass sleeve that runs up through the box to keep the oil from running out broke off. It is number 3597 in the picture below. located near the bottom left. Any ideas short of looking for another cover with sleeve? Maybe someone that reads this has a good spare cover?

Re: Help with '39 steering box.
I think those horn wire tubes are available as reproductions but many have been soldered back together. Low temp silver solder should work on the brass.

Re: Help with '39 steering box.
They can be repaired. I have found brass tubing available but have not seen this complete assembly reproduced. Not that difficult to repair one that is broken.
Check your local hobby shop for brass tubing that has the correct ID and wall thickness.

Re: Help with '39 steering box.
I can't seem to find the tube available anywhere. If someone knows where please let me know. Thanks,

Re: Help with '39 steering box.
Gene, This can be easily repaired. I silver solder them almost every time I work on one as nearly all have come loose and leak.
