Default 40 Coupe Deck Lid Gap

I've tried two different seals for the deck lid, but still have a nice 1/2" gap. I'm shooting for a gap around 3/16" and considering adding material to the lid.........
Any other solutions?? Thanks.

Very nicely........it's a repop lid.....makes me wonder if it's a tad undersized.

New seals sometimes take a little time to settle down.

Agreed. I let it set out in the sun for a day with little result...........thanks for the input.

One that I've tried is the Drake with moulded corners.......the other is from Vintique. Has anyone tried the seal from Soffseal, or do they supply the others?

I had to take material off my decklid to get the right gap.My welder suggested adding material, but I suggested taking material off instead, but my decklid wasn't square.

I'll try another day or two in the sun before attacking the lid with a welder.....I think I'll use some ratchet straps to encourage the seal to lay flatter, as well.

I'm not sure if mine is either........the old gal had damage in the supports beside the spare tire support bracket.....maybe evidence of a collision sometime in her past. Body may be tweaked a bit but not enough to notice.
Thanks guys.

Did you consider using a trunk lid seal for another vehicle that has the same configuration but is smaller in size?

"Google" Universal trunk lid seal" I bet most companies will send you a small sample.

IF the trunk hinges where they pivot are worn oblong, when the lid comes down against the seal it will push the lid up instead of compressing the seal. inspect the hinges.

New hinges, and they are shimmed to pull it down further. The studs are too short to allow any more adjustment..............I've though about welding in longer studs........thanks again.
