Question I just found this-need advice!

This truck is going to be in an estate auction close to me soon. They have it advertised as a 1930. Obviously, from the pics provided-it appears to be a 28 or 29. Here is all I know- (which isn't much) They got it running. It's supposed to have a clear title. Assuming the undercarriage is good and everything else is just "driver quality"-what is a rough ballpark figure on what it's worth? I have not personally seen the truck, I just found out about it yesterday. I read somewhere here on the forum that very early 30's looked alot like 29's but the gas caps are different. I know this isn't much to go on, but as I said I just found out about it and the auction is Wed. 6/17/15. Any input would be apppreciated. Thanks a million! Smitty

Make sure you can fit in it comfortably. I wish I had road tested my 29 Roadster pickup first. It is The most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever been in ! Wayne

I just noticed something in the pics. It has an exterior door handle on the left, but none on the right. Is that correct?

I would need to correct a lot of things if I owned it, but I'd say if it's worth 8K it will sell for 16K at an estate auction.

Is that a camera trick, or are the rear fenders different?

Oh I like that thing. Like everyone says there's lots a stuff on there that isn't original but it's a sweet little unit. Unfortunatly Tom is right when he says things usually go high on auctions. With a title I would give myself a cap of 75 hundred and if it went over that I would bow out, Who knows it might go cheap. It happens to other people than me all the time it seems. Frank

Something about that dip stick, I can't remember.
5K - 10K, just my guess, have to check it really, really good.

It appears to have 21" wheels also. The 30's (even the early ones) had 19" wheels.

28-29 gas cap was a threaded cap. The early 1930 had a quarter twist cap. Hard to tell in the pic's, but it looks like a threaded cap. Rod

On a quick look:
Not Correct:

top
seat cushions
windshield posts
driver door and pass. door should match...these don't
rear fenders look unmatched
oil filler tube is strange
are those washers under the head bolts? if so, that is wrong
looks to be some oil being splashed around the engine compartment.
This vehicle has all the earmarks of a thrown together car built from parts. Please take a knowledgeable Model A guy with you to examine the car before committing to any money changing hands.

I would go $10,000 if a roadster pickup was in my tea leaves. Yes, it has issues, but don't we all, and $10 k would give a very good value.

It is not a 30 for all the reasons given, cowl, radiator, tank, wheels, etc.
10k and if it's a style you really like and plan to keep it for many years, 15k.

I'm at 8K tops and if it is kluged up with funny parts, stay away from it.

Smile Re: I just found this-need advice!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your input. I talked with the auctioneer yesterday afternoon. He told me that he has yet to see the title and he listed it as a 30 as that is what the owner's widow told him. I talked with him in great length about the legal stuff-transferring title(if there is one)and other things. I've known this particular auctioneer for several years. He graduated highschool with my Wife. He was quite honest in his description of the truck and admitted he is by no means a Model A expert.
The auction is tomorrow and I plan on attending. I will update everyone Thur. on what it sold for and if it followed me home. Thanks again, Smitty
