It merely shows that there has been some sort of procedural or logistical change in the serializing of the individual assemblies while saving huge corporate dollars by not retooling that particular section of the casting fixtures just to get rid of that pad on a portion of the block that remained unchanged during any block updates. On top of that, if the "new" numbering procedure doesn't work-out too well for some reason, that crazy pad is already there to revert back to if needed. Not really too odd after all, huh? DD
