On my DeLuxe plate I used rubbing compound and polishing compound for plastic
and hand rubbed the original tan plastic. Then applied car wax. The OEM plate is cellulose plastic and would look "unoriginal" if painted. For the Brown Stripes I taped off the plastic using thin line pin striping tape. "Remove the tape while paint is still sticky so that it won't leave a sharp edge or peel off with your tape. Do a test spot on the back of the plate
first so as not to damage the plastic.
Also. the glass plate for the cluster is very thin and fragile so be careful removing and installing.
