If it is built for 6 volt it will work fine on 12 volt. The 12 volt uses smaller wires and shouldn't be used with a 6 volt system. Try asking him if any of his harnesses were built for 12 volt and how can they be identified if this is important to you, that is to say, if you intend to run 6 volts.
