Default Re: Fuel pump gasket

The fuel pump arm has only a short sweet operating spot for pumping its fuel. If your push rod is too short as to not operate in that sweet spot, then fuel will not be pumped as well, if not at all. Too long of a fuel pump rod can damage a fuel pump. Fuel pump rods wear shorter as the miles are put on them. It has often been my experience to get the fuel pump to correctly pump enough fuel that I had to braise a little on the end of the fuel pump rod to bring the rod back to the correct length again.
