I will double check this. Yes they need to be open and the machine shop and I checked them too. But won't hurt to double check.

The oil tube has a slot cut in it to allow oil to pass into that down tube drain. That slot is on the side away from the bend and should align with the hole in the rear cap. I will look at that again too.
Appreciate the eyes on the B engine assembly.
