I’d be inclined to put the charger on it, then wait for the brakes lights to come on. Then carefully lift the pedal by hand. If they go out, that tells you one thing. If they don’t, you go look elsewhere. Due to the turn signal being in the mix brake lights can be a b### to trouble shoot. I don’t think it applies here, but grounding is also often a problem with weird symptoms.
