So I'm trying to clean up my engine compartment and it's looking really nice. For some reason my father-in-law had wrapped aluminum foil around the ignition cable (see pic) and I don't know why.

Any ideas as to why he did that or is it just another example that he thought it would be better with the foil than with out....he is no longer with us so I can't ask him why. If it's not needed I would like to remove it.
