100 mi use may not seem like much, but if that bearing has been too tight all that time....well, they are not bullet proof from abuse.

Question: how long did you run it , during the 100 mi, till you started hearing the 'squeal' ? Once they make that type noise....I'd replace it, as it will only get worse with time. However, proper adjustment may give more time/service until ?

There is a way to grease, but the average guy is not going to do that. And that would be best done on the bench.... while it feels/looks usable yet.
