I agree with you 100%. The reason I wanted the Optima was it is a sealed, maintenance free, non-spillable battery. I don't have to worry about fumes and explosions while charging or checking cell fluid levels. You are correct, there are a few different wet cell batteries with fluid/vent plugs in the $100 dollar range. I just like the piece of mind. Just my personal opinion.
