I just learned that the Canadian Mercury 114 came in two trim levels. The "deluxe" trim model was known as a Mercury 114X - as shown on this Glove Box lid on a 1948 Mercury 114X Sedan.
This was similar to the regular Fords that were also built on the 114 inch Wheelbase. In the Ford series, the base model was the Ford Deluxe and the upmarket model was the Ford Super Deluxe.
Meanwhile, the "full size" Mercurys built on the 118 inch Wheelbase only came in one trim level.

In the 1946 Canadian Sales Brochure for the Mercury 114, there is no mention of two trim levels?
