Major surgery began yesterday. The top of the cowl had been replaced in the past with a mix of '39 & '40 parts. The workmanship was some of the worst I'd ever seen.
I was able to source a '38 upper cowl in CA.
There are some differences that I'll need to overcome but I'm glad to have acquired this piece.
