I have never dealt with a Tillotson but Marvel Schebler Carburetors are also made of zinc and have the same warpage issue.
I flatten the halves using the methods others have suggested and cut my own gaskets from 1/32" cork/Buna-N. The cork/Bun-N is softer than the paper gaskets you get in the kits and conforms to any irregularities. Ensure you don't over tighten the screws!
