Interesting. I see you succumbed to British units but then decimalized them.
In inchland, 2/10~= 3/16.
Anyway, how long ago did you do this? Is the plating peeling off where the edge is now exposed to weather? What about corrosion on the bare metal?
Maybe painting the filed edge with a rubberized compound like that tool handle dip stuff would both seal it and protect the hood edge. Probably look pretty bad though.
