Re: Tough Old Ford
I am disappointed that I can no longer find an amazing photo I once had, of Model AA Ford logging trucks that used to tow huge logs out of the native bush in the central North Island of New Zealand. The photo showed totara or matai logs about 5 feet thick and 20 feet long behind the trucks. The gravel roads were narrow, winding and steep, so they must have had special low range gears. Outwardly there was nothing to indicate they were anything other than standard AA trucks. I have looked high and low for that photo without success and wonder if any other NZ Barners have ever come across it. It was taken around Te Kuiti I think.
