If you can hear nothing when you hit the starter switch, your starter Bendix could be stuck in the flywheel. Try turning the engine over by hand with a crank. This will disengage a stuck starter. If still stuck, undo the three cap bolts holding the starter to the flywheel housing and wiggle the starter. I have had success with that in the past.
