Pluck, I always thought it was "small ball down" until I saw the photos posted by WTSHNN in Post #2 in your thread entitled

"Proof wanted about the 1928 60-A 2-Window Fordor Sedan"

Those photos clearly show "small ball up" on what I think is a 60-A. Car also has an unusual paint scheme with a "third" color on the window reveals and light-colored wheels; and an unusual outside visor over the windshield. As WTSHNN says, these photos may be from the premiere event in December 1927, and so the car may be a proto-type.
