Mr moose ,?? e use golden syrup , as had no maple syrup , both work , petrol (gas) does not dissolve it, been using it some 40 years on the cork seals, never had a leak ,If you are highly skeptical then don,t do it , Some of the good great folk no longer post on here with tried tips as we get pissed off with knockers,
