I cannot tell you which is better yet. I did purchase the modern lower and upper plate with modern points and condenser.
I am making the change because of condenser problems with the original set up. I think the condenser in the original location (lower part of distributor) gets too hot and shorts. People in my club like the new set up. Others on various forums do not.
