radials fetch a good bit more. aside from the radials performing better, Im not a fan of the look.
The excelsiors I bought have a very sturdy sidewall and are fine for the price. how long they last I dont know, but I dont drive as much as I would like anyway.
If youre doing major touring, then I would start looking at the european classics or better.
I think our long distance trips towing a camper would qualify for "major touring". For those trips, I now use 16" wheels and radial tyres for light trucks. That way, I get the mileage and weight carrying capacity. Original Model A wheels keep breaking.
