Just got back from the radiator shop, had the water return pipe raised about an inch.

Moving the radiator 3 inches forward and raising the return pipe gives me just enough room to install an 18 inch heavy duty flex fan on the crank with a 2 inch spacer. The radiatior is 20 inches wide and the 18 inch fan will have 1 inch of room on all sides for the fan shroud I'm making. Don't believe the 16 inch electric fan I had installed would move this much air!

After this I'll have to modify the bumper sheet metal as well.

Why would you need to "raise the return pipe"?? Putting the fan down there on the crank snout moves it away from the upper hose, not closer!
However, the photos show the fan mounted in the usual location on the water pump shaft. The fan is obviously reverse rotation so won't work on the crank anyway. I'm missing something. What is going on here?
