Mike, maybe a tip that may help you put the welting in. When I put the welting between the tank and member above the tank, I used some wide maskinig tape and ran it around the welting and around the top member above the tank. (I had the dash out and windshield out). It held the welting up until I got the tank in. Then it was easy to pull the tape out. Don't know if this is the way to do it, but it worked for me and I did not have to fight to keep the welting from falling out.
