There is minimal side thrust on the pump pushrod and .020 clearance is not a worry.


There is basically no limit to material removal for stem clearance setting.

I thank you for your comments and will inform machinist and be guided accordingly. This engine would be a C 59a block with freeze plugs which are the standard 3/4" size. My hope is this short block will be on the back of my 38 PU and heading home later today.
