I like to use the 9 1/2 behind the 8ba engines and the 9" on the 59 and earlier engines. Now there is a problem here with the 9 1/2 and it won't clear rhe 1 3/8 input shaft also it doesn't fit the earner throughout bearing hub abd it must be modified to use the smaller throughout bearing. This is an easy lathe job and alittle brazing. I also like to use the early flywheel with the shoulder removed and re-drilled for the 9 1/2 pressure plate. I never use the early trans only the T-5/t-85 so there isn't any problems there. It takes time and many mistakes to come up with this information, and it comes form dozens of other rodders that also contribute to ALL this information. When your 87, I hope you can pass it along
