OK. That explains it. (Modern stuff.) Sounds healthy, though. It might run OK progressive, but I bet straight would be better. The only time I ran 4 97's was on the 331 Hemi in my racecar (straight linkage, of course). It ran great and was quite fast, but for some reason, I had to go through the carbs every year. I finally had enough of that and went to two large-base 2G's on a different manifold; it ran about as good and the carburetors are completely trouble free. (One of the guys I raced with ran a 320 ci Buick straight eight with 5 97's (straight linkage as well.)
When I had the first setup, I ran across an article someplace (maybe on the H.A.M.B.) that explained how to properly set up 4 in a row with a straight linkage for the street. Maybe I can find again it if you're interested.
