Default Re: Spring Hangers Bent

The problem: bent spring hangers.
Moving toward a solution required finding a data point to begin with using credible sources.
The two sources citied were spot on. The initial measurement provided has given the starting data point to adjust the hangers to.

The castings when assembled into the axle do not have many machined surfaces to use as reference points to measure from, using the center section and spring hanger bolts to measure from/to got it to a point where they were square with the housing and spring and assembly could be done. Symmetry was also balanced off of the centerline negating needing to consider the backing plate to hanger distance. Once the chassis is weighted with the body I can remeasure on a level slab to validate the adjustments.
Moving the hangers was done using a spring spreader (with an 8 tpi screw) while heating to move the hanger in small increments until a +/-0 measurement was achieved.

“TooMater” may make it to the RPM Nationals yet!
