Ford made an AOD transmission in the 80's that is a fairly common swap for the Fordomatic.

Yes you'd need a T-Bird radiator with the transmission cooler, or a separate cooler.

Several places sell an adapter kit. I'll bet someone here has an idea which one is better... (I hope this link works)
