IMO, it depends on what you want to tow and at what speed. As I have said here many times many times, my wife and I have towed a camper that weighs about a tonne (2,200 lb) behind our '29 Phaeton with the original engine rebuilt for a bit more power and stamina. I guess I'm getting 60 or so hp out of it. With the Mitchell O/D, we cruise day day at 50 mph.
