As long as I can remember reds have been more expensive. I assume the pigment is more costly.
I see you stripped that pan and I am not sure how to do it but if you got stripper in those seams you need to make sure to get it all out. I have some brown showing on mine like it is rust around there but it isn't because rust always gets worse and it hasn't so I attributed it to the paint stripper bleeding through.
