i have had 3 50s & 2 53s in the last 20 years and that driving temp seems normal. you should also find out what temperature thermostats are in there, if any. the higher pressure cap only raises the boiling point of the coolant. has nothing really to do with keeping cool or lowering the temperature.
just a observation here is that the top of your radiator does not have a fresh coat of paint so i would say that it may not have been cleaned in a while. pulling the radiator and taking it to a reputable shop and having the upper and lower tanks removed and having the core rodded (not flushed) will get all accumulated years of crud out of the tubes may well help slow the stoplight temp rise. and if you get the radiator rodded have the shop install a neck for a closed recovery system and then install a recovery tank on the drain line. also wont help keep it cool but will keep the radiator full.
