I found that I can get this kind of shot from a high angle without climbing anything, and even when there is nothing to climb, by extending my monopod fully, set the camera timer for 10 seconds, push the button, and hoist the camera up in the air as high as I can reach and hold it still while watching the level until the shutter trips to take the picture.
