I'm not familiar with the post-production two-piece pulleys as I only use the one-piece production versions, but if the joint between the two pieces is in just the right place, the pulley portion may well clear the back of the U bolts. I'd certainly try it first before the other two time and effort consuming options. Likely that's point of having a two-piece pulley in the first place.
