I believe that they were a short-lived early version given the apparent scarcity of surviving examples, although they have shown up on both U.S. and European '32s. My favorite, which I believe to be the earliest of the six is shown below in the photo from the Ford U.S. archives.

As an aside also in that photo please note that the end of the bumper has a small center knuckle. Some believe that only reproduction bumpers have the small knuckles on the end, which obviously was not the case. They are admittedly not often encountered in original form, but even NOS examples of them exist.
