From looking at the catalog, this looks like the part for a manual transmission (part # 7354)? Is yours a manual? I ordered the new part that looks like your picture because it looked so close to what I had. I actually have a Fordomatic (car originally came with manual according to the build plate (early VIN)). The equivalent part # for Fordomatic appears to be part #97011-S.

There appear to be 3 versions of the rod. One for manual, one for air cooled FM and one for water cooled FM. Does anyone know if the FM rods are 1/2” and the manual rod is 7/16”? How do the two FM rods differ? I would hate to have to buy a new rod because the catalog says to inquire for cost, which is never good.

I’m going to try and find someone with a T-bird at the next car show or cruise-in and see what it is supposed to look like.
