Default Re: A New Winter House for My "A"

I am a seasoned (over 45 years) licensed Home Building Contractor operating 30 miles south of the Twin Cites in Minnesota. I maintain the building licenses for our company which means I attend the required continuing education classes. I like to think I know what I am talking about when it comes to building and maintaining healthy homes/buildings. I also have a passion for Model A's.

Your building should work well for your purpose once insulated. Looking closely at your photos, I see the gable side of the structure has an opening under the floor system to allow the space between the concrete slab and floor to breathe. It is very important to allow air to freely flow under the floor to dry the condensation that will occur as the outdoor temperature and relative humidity vary. I do agree with closing the space to eliminate small animals from taking up residence or damaging the under structure. While doing so, place two screened vents on each side to allow the space to breathe. Doing this will protect your investment. Remember to keep these vent open by removing debris from the openings occasionally.

Nice new home for your pickup. Congrat's.
Good Day!

Oops! Looks like 77Birdman beat me on the suggestion for screens. I did not read all the posts. I guess we both agree with the need for screened vents.
