it is a panhard rod as one end attaches to the front axle and the other attaches to the chassis , A roll bar mounts to the chassis at either side and attaches to the front axle at each end via the spring perches ford didnt introduce this till mid 40 and removed the need for the panhard rod by mounting the bar with heavy flanged bearings to take the lateral load thanks to JSeery didnt think of trying track bar
